lizthecelt@inbox.comWell, first thing's first, my real name is Liz, and I'm 22 years old. I have made a hobby out of painting dolls, and am currently trying to make a little bit of money on the side from it. I needed a place to post pictures of my recent work, and also updates. Obviously, I'm sure I'll have some posts about what's going on in my life as well, can't be all work and no play. :)
For those who don't know what an Asian Ball Jointed Doll is, I'll take a minute to explain. An Asian Ball Jointed Doll is obviously from Asia (XD), and unlike your regular porcelain dolls, Barbie dolls, etc., BJDs (the abbreviation makes it so much easier) are highly customizable. They have a removable head cap (often held on by a magnet, rubber band, or hook inside the head) which comes off to allow you to change the eyes, which are generally held in with poster tack or putty. Their hair is not rooted in their heads like a Barbie, but instead is a wig which is easily removable for quickly changing styles and colors. Their joints are ball joints (which one might guess from their name) which are strung together with elastic string. This special joint/stringing system allows them a wide range of movements and very human-like poses. BJDs are made of resin, which makes them somewhat breakable, but also allows one to wipe the paint off their faces and repaint them as many times as they want. This paint job is called a "faceup", and painting the body is called "blushing". This is where artists like me come in! :D
Anyway, that's just a rough idea of what I do and what medium I'm working with. Otherwise, I like to think I'm an entertaining person who has been lucky to have the amazing life I've lived so far. Talking about myself always makes me feel like my head is getting huge, so I'm just going to leave it at that. If anyone wants a faceup on their doll, shoot me a message!
